Everywhere we go

A standard repeat-after-me style team cheer.

Everywhere we go!
People want to know,
who we are,
so we tell them.

WE ARE THE GIRL GUIDES!
the mighty mighty girl guides,
and if you can't hear us,
we'll sing a little louder!

Sing once at normal volume,
then get a little louder,
then sing really quiet,
then sing super loud and end with:

"And if you can't hear us,
THEN YOU'RE DEAF!"

The Tree Song

This is a repeat-after-me song.

(speak) Once upon a time,
there was a hole in the ground,
and the green grass grew all around,
all around,
and the green grass grew all around.

(sing repeat-after-me style) And in that hole,
there was a tree.
The prettiest little tree,
that you ever did see!

(sing together) And the tree was in the hole,
and the hole was in the ground,
and the green grass grew all around,
all around,
and the green grass grew all around.

(repeat-after-me) And on that tree,
there was a branch.
The prettiest little branch,
that you ever did see!

(sing together) And the branch was on the tree,
and the tree was in the hole,
and the hole was in the ground,
and the green grass grew all around,
all around,
and the green grass grew all around.

(repeat-after-me) And on that branch,
there was a twig.
The prettiest little twig,
that you ever did see!

(sing together) And the twig was on the branch,
and the branch was on the tree,
and the tree was in the hole,
and the hole was in the ground,
and the green grass grew all around,
all around,
and the green grass grew all around.

(repeat-after-me) And on that twig,
there was a nest.
The prettiest little nest,
that you ever did see!

(sing together) And the nest was on the twig,
and the twig was on the branch,
and the branch was on the tree,
and the tree was in the hole,
and the hole was in the ground,
and the green grass grew all around,
all around,
and the green grass grew all around.

(repeat-after-me) And in that nest,
there was an egg,
the prettiest little egg,
that you ever did see!

(sing together) And the egg was in the nest,
and the nest was on the twig,
and the twig was on the branch,
and the branch was on the tree,
and the tree was in the hole,
and the hole was in the ground,
and the green grass grew all around,
all around,
and the green grass grew all around.

(repeat-after-me) And in that egg,
there was a bird,
the prettiest little bird,
that you ever did see!

(sing together) And the bird was in the egg,
and the egg was in the nest,
and the nest was on the twig,
and the twig was on the branch,
and the branch was on the tree,
and the tree was in the hole,
and the hole was in the ground,
and the green grass grew all around,
all around,
and the green grass grew all around.

(repeat-after-me) And on that bird,
there was a feather,
the prettiest little feather,
that you ever did see!

(sing together) And the feather was on the bird,
and the bird was in the egg,
and the egg was in the nest,
and the nest was on the twig,
and the twig was on the branch,
and the branch was on the tree,
and the tree was in the hole,
and the hole was in the ground,
and the green grass grew all around,
all around,
and the green grass grew all around.

(repeat-after-me) And on that feather,
there was a flea,
the prettiest little flea,
that you ever did see!

(sing together) And the flea was on the feather,
and the feather was on the bird,
and the bird was in the egg,
and the egg was in the nest,
and the nest was on the twig,
and the twig was on the branch,
and the branch was on the tree,
and the tree was in the hole,
and the hole was in the ground,
and the green grass grew all around,
all around,
and the green grass grew all around.

(repeat-after-me) And on that flea,
there was an ELEPHANT!
The prettiest little elephant,
that you ever did see!!

all around,
and the green grass grew all around.

Optional extra verses:
On the elephant there's a monkey,
on the monkey is an ostrich,
on the ostrich there's an amoeba,
on the amoeba there's a microscope,
on the microscope there's a scientist,
on the scientist there's ME!

Linger

mhmmm... I want to linger,
mhmmm... a little longer,
mhmmm... a little longer here with you,
my dear.

mhmmm... it's such a perfect night,
mhmmm... it doesn't seem quite right,
mhmmm... that this should be my last with you.

mhmmm... and as the years go by,
mhmmm... I'll think of you and sigh,
mhmmm... this is goodnight and not goodbye.

mhmmm... I want to linger,
mhmmm... a little longer,
mhmmm... a little longer here with you.

Sing along here!

Once a Girl Guide went to Camp...

Once, a Girl Guide went to camp,
went to camp,
Went to camp without a lamp,
without a lamp,
Saw a spider sitting in her bed,
This is what the Girl Guide said,
Girl Guide said.

Spider, spider,
go away, go away,
you must never ever stay,
ever stay,
just remember what the Guider's said,
no two people share a bed,
share a bed.

Once, a Girl Guide went to camp,
went to camp,
went to camp without a lamp,
without a lamp,
saw a beetle sitting in her bed,
this is what the Girl Guide said,
Girl Guide said.

Beetle, beetle,
go away, go away,
you must never ever stay,
ever stay,
Just remember what the Guiders said,
no two people share a bed,
share a bed.

Once, a Girl Guide went to camp,
went to camp,
went to camp without a lamp,
without a lamp,
saw a Boy Scout sitting in her bed,
this is what the Girl Guide said,
Girl Guide said.

Boy Scout, Boy Scout,
you must stay, you must stay,
you must never go away,
go away,
Just remember what the Guiders said,
Communication between the two branches must be upheld at all times.
Boy Scout you must stay.

Once, a Boy Scout went to camp,
went to camp,
went to camp without a lamp,
without a lamp,
saw a spider sitting in his bed,
this is what the Boy Scout said,

Go Well and Safely

Go well and safely,
go well and safely,
go well and safely,
the Lord be ever with you.

Stay well and safely,
stay well and safely,
stay well and safely,
the Lord be ever with you.

Note: "the Lord" is sometimes replaced with "may peace"

Say Why

Say why,
do we have to say goodbye?
Say why,

do we have to say goodbye?
Say why,

do we have to say goodbye?
Say why, my friends, say why.

Say when,
will we ever meet again?
Say when,
will we ever meet again?
Say when,
will we ever meet again?
Say when, my friends, say when.

Say where,
and I'll meet you right there.
Say where,
and I'll meet you right there.
Say where,
and I'll meet you right there.
Say where, my friends, say where.

Say why,
do we have to say goodbye?
Say when,
wll we ever meet again?
Say where,
and I'll meet you right there.
Say why, say when, say where.

An Old Austrian

An old Austrian went yodelling, on a mountain top high,
when along came a ______________,
interrupting his cry.

Yo-day-eee...
Yodelleh-he-he,
yodelleh-(sounds)
Yodelleh-he-he,

yodelleh-(sounds)
Yodelleh-he-he,
yodelleh-(sounds)
Youdelleh-he-he-a-ho.

(repeat)

This song is sung my replacing the blank (________) with something the Austrian meets each time it is sung, and also adding a sound in the place of (sounds) each time it is repeated. You end up changing the thing the Austrian meets every time you repeat, but the sounds get added onto the one before. For example, the first time you sing, the Austrian meets a Coocoo bird, and you make the sound coo-coo coo-coo. The second time round, the Austrian meets a dog, and you make the sounds coo-coo coo-coo, AND ha-ha (panting). This song can be repeated as many times as needed.

The Things the Austrian Meets - (and the sounds)

Coocoo bird - (coo-coo coo-coo)
St. Bernard - (ha ha *panting*)
Avalanche - (swoosh)
Grizzly Bear - (Grrrr)
Milking Cow - (Mooooooo!)
Pretty Girl - (*kissing sounds*)
Angry Dad - (BANG BANG *pistol shots*)
Skydiver - (Ahhhhh!!!)
Girl Guide - (Cooooooookies?)

When we sing this song, we like to end with "An anti-yodeller" who says "Be quiet!" and covers his ears, ending the song there.

Black Socks

This song can be sung as a round, with one side repeating "Not Yet" and the other singing the song and then switching roles.

Black socks,
they never get dirty,
the longer you wear them,
the stronger they get.
Sometimes I think I should wash them,
but something keeps telling me,
no no,
not yet, not yet, not yet, not yet...

Humpty Dumpty Song

CHORUS
Hump ti-dump,
Hump hump-ti dump-ti dump-ti,
Hump ti-dump,
Hump hump-ti dump-ti dump-ti.

(After the chorus, someone sings a nusury rhyme, but ends it short, adding instead ugh, ain't that funky now)

Examples:

CHORUS
Jack and Jill went up a hill,
to fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown,
and ugh, ain't that funky now.
CHORUS
Old Mother Hubbard,
went to her cupboard,
to fetch her poor dog a bone.
When she went there,
the cupboard was bare,
and ugh ain't that funky now.
CHORUS

Tinga Layo

Tinga Layo,
Run little donkey run.
Tinga Layo,
Run little donkey run.

My donkey walks,
My donkey talks,
My donkey eats with a knife and fork.

Tinga Layo,
Run little donkey run...
Run little donkey run...
Run little donkey run...
Run little donkey run...

Jelly Bean Song

One little jelly bean,
down in my belly been,
giving me a tummy ache,
what am I gonna take?
My friends are telling me,
they've got a remedy,
never eat the green ones,
and rub your belly,
and pat your head,
and kick your leg,
and bounce up and down.

Each time you sing this song, add one of the italisized lines onto the song. I.e. - start with "rub your belly," and the next time sing "rub your belly and pat your head."

Fishie song (Have you ever gone a fishin')

Have you ever gone a fishin'
on a bright and sunny day,
and all the little fishies
swimmin up and down the bay?
With their hands in their pockets,
and their pockets in their pants,
and all the little fishies do the hoochie coochie dance.

Ba da ba dum dat,
Ba da ba da,
Ba da ba dum dat,
Ba da ba da,
with their hands in their pockets,
and their pockets in their pants,
and all the little fishies do the hoochie coochie dance.

Have you ever gone a fishin'
on a cold winter's day,
and all the little fishies
are frozen in the bay?
With their hands in their pockets,
and their pockets in their pants,
and all the little fishies do the hoochie coochie dance.

Ba da ba dum dat,
Ba da ba da,
Ba da ba dum dat,
Ba da ba da,
with their hands in their pockets,
and their pockets in their pants,
and all the little fishies do the hoochie coochie dance.

40 Days on an Iceberg

Actions for each line of this song are in brackets ( ) below each line.

Forty days on an iceberg,
(flash ten fingers 4 times)
over the ocean blue.
(mimick waves with your hands)
Nothing to wear but pajamas,
(pull on PJ bottoms)
nothing to do but slide.
(mimick a slide with your hands)
The air was cold and frosty,
(shiver with arms crossed over your chest)
the frost began to bite.
(Gently pinch your arms)
I had to hug a polar bear,
to keep me warm at night!
(Hug the person next to you)

Similar to "Swimming, Swimming, in the swimming pool," this song losses a line each time you sing it again, humming in the place of the line you remove.

Pink Pajamas

I wear my pink pajamas in the summer when it's hot,
I wear my flannel nighties in the winter when it's not,
and sometimes in the spring,
and sometimes in the fall,
I jump into my little bed with nothing on at all.

That's the time you aught to see me,
That's the time you aught to see me,
That's the time you aught to see me,
When I jump into my little bed with nothing on at all.

Nosy nosy what's it to ya?
Nosy nosy what's it to ya?
Nosy nosy what's it to ya?
When I jump into my little bed with nothing on at all.

Winter Camp Barges

This song goes to the tune of barges with lyrics about winter camping.

Out of my tent flap,
looking at the snow,
I can see my boots,
frozen down below.

Suddenly goes a blizzard through my tent,
I begin to wonder why I went.

Winter camp,
I don't want to go to you,
I don't want to freeze my butt off too.

Winter Camp,
but we all have so much fun,
it'll be three months till we see the sun.

Listen to the Earth

Listen to the Earth,
its singing to me.
Hear all things in harmony!

Waterfalls and raindrops,
birds and bees.
Sing the song of the Earth to me.

It's a Small World

It's a world of laughter,
a world of tears,
it's a world of hopes,
and a world of fears.
There's so much that we share,
that it's time we're aware,
it's a small world after all.

Chorus:
It's a small world after all,
It's a small world after all,
It's a small world after all,
It's a small, small world.

There is just one moon,
and one golden sun,
and a smile mean friendship,
to everyone.
Though the mountains are wide,
and the oceans divide,
it's a small world after all.

CHORUS

Join in the Game

Let everyone clap hands like me,
(clap, clap)
Let everyone clap hands like me,
(clap, clap)
Come on and join into the game,
you'll find that it's always just the same.
(clap, clap)

Ranger Song

Firm be the bond that binds us fast,
Firm be the faith we owe!
We who are standing side by side,
One though a thousand leagues divide.
Hills where the lighted campfires gleam and glow.

Down in the ash the embers die,
turned to a silver grey!
Golden and blue, the evening sky,
raises a star-lit flag on high.
Now that the night relieves the guard of day.

Under the dark the daylight waits,
Over the sea withdrawn!
Now let the day bring calm or strife,
Rangering forth in love with life.
We have a tryst, a tryst to keep with dawn.

They All Call It Canada

Side by side and step by step,
Our fathers were marching along.
They were building a road to the future,
With a spade and a smile and a song.

Out of the wildness,
and out of the sand,
grew the land that we live in today.
Though the job to be done,
has barely begun,
here is one thing I'm proud to say.

My Country,
is my cathedral,
the Northern sky its dome!
They all call it Canada,
but I call it home.

The mountains,
the lakes,
the valleys,
are friends I have known.
They all call it Canada,
but I call it home.

From the Atlantic,
to the Pacific!
From the pole,
to the USA!
We're one united brotherhood,
and united we will stay!

The people beyond our boarders,
and far across the foam,
they all call it Canada,
but I call it home.

Pathfinders

Pathfinders, Guiding along,
sharing a promise,
or sharing a song!
Planning tomorrow,
enjoying today.
Pathfinders! We're on our way.

Different roads to follow each day,
learning through work,
and learning through play!
We'll do our best,
'cause we're proud to say,
Pathfinders! We've found our way.

There's a wide world waiting out there,
people to help,
to show that we care!
We're learning now,
how best to prepare,
Pathfinders! We'll do our share!

Pathfinders, Guiding along,
sharing a promise,
or sharing a song!
Planning tomorrow,
enjoying today.
Pathfinders! We're here to stay!

Brownie Smile Song

I've got something in my pocket,
it belongs across my face,
and I keep it very close to me,
in a most convenient place.

I'm sure you couldn't guess it,
if you guessed a long long while,
so I'll take it out and put it on,
it's a great big brownie smile!

Sparks Jump Up

Sparks jump up,
when you light the fire.
Sparks jump up,
and give a big cheer!
Sparks jump up,
as flames get higher.
The Sparks!
The Sparks!
The Sparks are here.
