Sisters for a Century

Girl Guides of Canada 100 Year Song

Sparks and Brownies,
Guides,
Pathfinders,
Rangers,
Trefoil Guild,
Cadets.

We're all Girl Guides,
We're all Girl Guides.

Adventure awaits us every day,
learning new things,
and having our say.

We're all Girl Guides,
We're all Girl Guides!

We've been sisters for a Century,
Friendship like it ought to be,
We've got a hundred years,
Here's to another hundred years.

We've been sisters for a century,
Friendship like it ought to be,
We've got a hundred years,
here's to another hundred years.

Hey!

From Our Cabana,
to Sagnam,
Pax Lodge,
to Our Chalet.

We're all welcome,
We're all welcome.

All we need is an open mind,
up to a challange,
and ready to be kind.

We're all welcome,
we're all welcome!

We've been sisters for a century,
Friendship like it ought to be,
We've got a hundred years,
here's to another hundred years.

We've been sisters for a century,
Friendship like it ought to be,
We've got a hndred years,
Here's to another hundred years.

We've got a hundred years,
We've got a hundred years!
We've got a hundred years,
We've got a hundred years!

We're strong in our vision,
confident in our mission,
lending hands wherever there's need.

Cleaning green spaces,
with a smile on our faces,
taking action,
performing good deeds!

We've got a hundred years,
We've got a hundred years.
We've got a hundred years,
We've got a hundred years.
We've got a hundred years,
We've got a hundred years.
Here's to another hundred years!

We've been sisters for a century,
Friendship like it ought to be,
We've got a hundred years,
here's to another hundred years.

They All Call It Canada

Side by side and step by step,
Our fathers were marching along.
They were building a road to the future,
With a spade and a smile and a song.

Out of the wildness,
and out of the sand,
grew the land that we live in today.
Though the job to be done,
has barely begun,
here is one thing I'm proud to say.

My Country,
is my cathedral,
the Northern sky its dome!
They all call it Canada,
but I call it home.

The mountains,
the lakes,
the valleys,
are friends I have known.
They all call it Canada,
but I call it home.

From the Atlantic,
to the Pacific!
From the pole,
to the USA!
We're one united brotherhood,
and united we will stay!

The people beyond our boarders,
and far across the foam,
they all call it Canada,
but I call it home.

Sing a Song of Canada

Chorus:
Sing a song of Canada,
let your spirit show,
send your voice across the land,
and let the whole world know,
it's a land of endless beauty,
of people proud and free,
so,
Sing a song of Canada,
our home from sea to sea.

It's a song of crowded seagulls,
and mountains towering high,
gentle hills and rolling praries,
beneath the Northern skies.
Woodlands, lakes and rivers,
so much variety,
mountains, lakes and seagulls,
blended all in harmony.

CHORUS

Its a song of friendly people,
who built this land, who tried,
many races, creeds and colours,
all working side my side.
Farms and towns and cities,
so much diversity,
Our culture almost blended,
blending all in harmony.

CHORUS

Sing Along Here!

Like an Eagle

Born in the mountains,
the wind blowing free,
given by nature the wisdom to see,
power to heal and the strength to command,
child of our native land.

Chorus:
Fly far, like the eagle,
Be strong, like the eagle,
Soar high, like the eagle,
Live long, like the eagle,
When we come together in harmony,
like the eagle,
We'll be strong and free.

Circling and heeling and timing the sky,
looking at life through a far seeing eye,
searching and seeking and finding it there,
spirit of earth and air.

CHORUS

One sky above us, and one earth below,
life all around us and things that we know,
nothing to shadow the light of the sun,
everywhere we are one.

CHORUS

Walk Around

Rivers that sparkle,
and rush along free,
forrests so tall and green,
dressed in their finery,
Canada fair,
none are as lucky as we.

Chorus
Ah, Walk around,
look around,
take the time to say,
how lucky I am that I live in this land,
of Canada today.

All kinds of people from far away lands,
landed in True North,
Customs and cultures we're willing to share,
as true Canadians.

CHORUS

Pioneers suffered to settle this land,
the new world was its name,
fairness and freedom they wanted for all,
let's live up to what they claim.

CHORUS

Miles of highway are ours to explore,
an ever changing view,
four different season we know and enjoy,
for the richly, weak or poor.

Three Little Girl Guides

The same as Three little Angels, except with guiding branches instead.

Three little Sparks,
All dressed in pink,
Tried to get to heaven in a kitchen sink,
But sink was broken,
Down they all fell,
They didn’t get to heaven,
But they all went to…

(two, one…)

Three little Brownies,
All dressed in navy,
Tried to get to heaven by screaming ‘Help save me!’,
But their cries were never heard,
And down they all fell,
They didn’t get to heaven,
But they all went to…

(two, one…)

Three little Girl Guides,
All dressed in blue,
Tried to get to heaven on a water ski-doo,
But the ski-doo was broken,
And down they all fell,
They didn’t get to heaven,
But they all went to…

(two, one…)

Three little Pathfinders,
All dressed in green,
Tried to get to heaven on the seat of a latrine,
But the toilet was broken,
And down they all fell,
They didn’t get to heaven,
But they all went to…

(two, one…)

Three little Rangers,
All dressed in red,
Tried to get to heaven by waking up the dead,
But the dead walked away,
And down they all fell,
They didn’t get to heaven,
But they all went to…

(two, one…)

Three little leaders,
All dressed in stripes,
Tried to get to heaven by crawling through the pipes,
But the pipes were broken,
And down they all fell,
They didn’t get to heaven,
But they all went to…

(two, one...)

Three little Trefoils,
all dressed in purple,
tried to get to heaven by dancing the ski-dur-pul,
but they all fell asleep,
and down they all fell,
they didn't get ot heaven,
but they all went to...

(two, one...)

Canoe Song (My Paddle's Keen and Bright)

My paddle’s keen and bright,
Flashing with silver,
Follow the wild goose flight,
Dip, dip and swing.

Dip, dip and swing her back,
Flashing with silver,
Follow the wild goose flight,
Dip, dip and swing…
Dip. Dip and swing…

Good in a round, or with Land of the Silver Birch.

Land of the Silver Birch

Land of the Silver Birch,
Home of the beaver,
Where stands the mighty moose,
Wanders at will,

CHORUS
Blue lake and rocky shore,
I will return once more,
Boom didi ah da,
Boom didi ah da,
Boom didi ah da,
Boom.

My heart is sick for thee,
Here in the low lands,
I will return to you,
Hills of the north.

CHORUS

Swift as a silver fish,
Canoe of birch bark,
Thy mighty waterways,
Carry me forth.

CHORUS

Here where the blue lake lies,
I’ll set my wigwam,
Close to the water’s edge,
Silent and still.

CHORUS
